FACILITY PLANNING COMMITTEE
The Breckenridge ISD Board of Trustees established the Breckenridge ISD Facility Planning Committee as part of its long-term planning for district facilities, including consideration of a potential bond election in November 2025. The committee includes a diverse cross-section of the community, with parents and non-parents, young adults and senior citizens, as well as teachers, business owners, and community leaders.
The committee, composed of approximately 20 members, studied district financial data, conducted a district-wide facilities assessment, and evaluated projected costs of potential projects. Members also toured existing facilities to assess current conditions firsthand.
The Breckenridge ISD Facility Planning Committee considered information related to:
- Urgency & needs of students
- Benefit to Students
- Community impact
- Overall value
After four months working together to identify the project or projects that best addressed the Committee’s findings, the Committee presented two Options to the Breckenridge ISD Board of Trustees for their consideration. The BISD Trustees unanimously passed a motion to call a Bond Election in the amount of $39,000,000 for the construction of a New PK – 5th Elementary School at the South Elementary location. This motion included the BISD committing $5,573,332 above the Bond Amount of $39,000,000 to fund the project.
